Vehicles in Germany's Town Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Report

Officers stated they were notified by a resident who found a car in Hanau smeared with red-colored fluid

Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.

Officers report they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.

The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then found many other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement report preliminary tests suggest the substance was probably human blood.

"There is still no indication as to its source; investigators are currently not informed of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they added.

City officials announced they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the community for details.

An important official commented the attack rendered him stunned and had to be addressed quickly.

"This event affects the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the murder of nine people by a shooter focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
